Invitation
Please give me a call. I believe that for good work to be done, there also needs to be a good fit. I work under the assumption that a first appointment is an opportunity for you to assess if we are a good fit.
Who I Am and How I Work
I offer a supportive environment in which you can explore and unfold. I am compassionate, nonjudgmental, and straightforward. I ground my work in theoretical knowledge, and balance this with creativity, humor, and attention to what is unfolding in the present moment as we work together. I trust that what needs to come forward for you to heal will present itself...our job is to pay attention and make room for what arises.
Most often, people seek psychotherapy because they are experiencing discomfort. Symptoms or problems, although painful, are actually useful, for they call our attention to something which needs to be addressed in our lives. We can work together to get a better picture of what this "something" is for you, and in so doing, make an opening for change.
Training
My training has been a combination of psychodynamic, existential/Gestalt, and transpersonal orientations. Feel free to ask me more about this.
Expressive Arts Therapy
I hold a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA), and bring the arts into the therapy as seems appropriate; this is always dependent on your comfort level.
